Earning comparisons to Devin the Dude within the Tech N9ne era, the cannabis-focused MC and self-described stoned ranger Dizzy Wright issued his first project on 4/20 in 2010. Born La'Reonte Wright in Flint, Michigan and raised in Las Vegas by a mother active in the music industry, he observed the realities of major-label life up close during childhood, a perspective that later prompted him to stay fully independent. Following multiple mixtapes showcasing his fluid, Bone Thugs-influenced delivery, he reached the independent ranks in 2012 via Hopsin's Funk Volume label, which put out his debut album SmokeOut Conversations on April 20. The First Agreement EP appeared on the same imprint later that year, while 2013 brought the street-level mixtape The Golden Age, which entered the Billboard charts upon its formal release months afterward. In 2015 the single "I Can Tell You Need It" preceded the full-length The Growing Process, an album that included appearances by Big K.R.I.T., Tech N9ne, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. The Wisdom and Good Vibes EP arrived in 2016, followed later in the year by the 702 EP and the joint project Blaze with Us alongside Demrick. His third studio album, The Golden Age 2, surfaced in summer 2017, with State of Mind 2 emerging before the year ended. The single "Vibes" surfaced in May 2019, setting up the Don't Tell Me It Can't Be Done EP that arrived the next month. Spring 2019 also marked the arrival of his subsequent studio effort, Nobody Cares, Work Harder.
