Biography
Originally hailing from Scotland yet now based in Berlin, Claude Speeed produces hazy ambient drone shaped by classical and post-rock influences, while distorted echoes of '90s rave and trance also surface throughout his sound. A longtime associate of the Glasgow-based LuckyMe label/collective, Speeed appeared on one of its earliest releases, the 2010 EP Cool World by American Men. His ties to Planet Mu started in 2012 via a remix of Kuedo's "Work, Live & Sleep in Collapsing Space." The debut album My Skeleton arrived on LuckyMe in 2014, after which the label Planet Mu issued the EP Sun Czar Temple in early 2015. Speeed contributed to Hudson Mohawke's Lantern and Dedekind Cut's $uccessor, then rejoined Planet Mu in 2017 for the second full-length Infinity Ultra. That album, containing a collaboration with Kuedo, marked Speeed's most ambitious and jarring work to date.
