Cláudio Dauelsberg stands among Brazil’s most respected pianists, arrangers, and composers, having collaborated with Plácido Domingo, Bob Mintzer, Chick Corea, Sandra de Sá, Zélia Duncan, Márcio Montarroyos, Nivaldo Ornellas, Hermeto Paschoal, and Robertinho Silva. In recital he has appeared across numerous Brazilian cities alongside the Geneva Chamber Orchestra under Tierry Fischer and the Orquestra Nacional de Brasília led by Helena Herrera. Since 1987 he has sustained an extended partnership with Délia Fischer in the Duo Fênix, which issued three albums and appeared at the Montreux and Sophia jazz festivals as well as the 1990 Free Jazz Festival in Brazil. His debut solo album, Além das Imagens, appeared in 1998; the following year he traveled through Europe and performed at the Montreux Festival in Switzerland. Having begun classical piano studies in childhood, he entered major competitions at age fourteen, including Rio’s Lorenzo Fernandes and Porto Alegre’s Concurso Nacional Natho Henn. After attending the Berklee School of Music he returned to Brazil in 1987.
