Biography
Born in 1964 in Dublin, Eire, Buchanan saw his family relocate to Australia in 1970, where they established themselves in Peakhurst, a southern suburb of Sydney. During the mid-80s he spent time working in an outback Christian community before taking on various rural labouring roles. The Flying Emus discovered him, leading to a recording contract with ABC Country, an EMI Records imprint. Critical praise came for his songwriting on the album Galahs In The Gidgee, marking him as an outstanding singer-songwriter, and his reputation grew further through later releases. Hard Times addresses the challenges facing Australian farmers, while The Measure Of A Man offers character studies drawn from Australian life. He has additionally contributed material to the catalogues of Australian country stars Tania and Lee Kernaghan.
