Biography
In the late 1960s the Kasenetz-Katz production team cycled through countless pseudonyms to push their string of bubblegum successes. The Crazy Elephant name chiefly served session vocalist Robert Spencer, already noted for his post-"Speedo" stint with the Cadillacs, and was affixed to the duo’s recording of “Gimme Gimme Good Lovin’.” When Super K Productions’ usual home at Buddah Records declined the master, the pair offered the track to Bell Records, where it climbed just short of the U.S. Top Ten in 1969. Despite that showing, Crazy Elephant never returned to the charts and instead slipped into the long line of interchangeable units that powered the Kasenetz-Katz operation.
