Biography
Bassist Curtis Lundy, brother of Carmen Lundy, earned his greatest recognition through years spent in the group led by jazz vocalist Betty Carter, an outfit whose membership at various times encompassed such later-celebrated players as Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, and Don Braden. Additional studio work found him supporting John Hicks, Bobby Watson, the Steve Nelson Quintet, and Johnny Griffin on selected releases. In the late 1980s he stepped forward with his own recording Just Be Yourself (1988). Ten years on, Justin Time Records issued Against All Odds (1999), which was followed in short order by Purpose (2002); pianists John Hicks and Anthony Wonsey appear on both albums.
