Hailing from Toronto, Hill works as a singer/songwriter whose style remains unabashedly sentimental. During his teenage years he developed a strong admiration for vocalists such as Frank Sinatra. Popularity soon followed in Canada, where his debut album appeared in 1975. He joined Barry Mann to co-write the highly emotional “Sometimes When We Touch” in 1977, and the track reached Top Ten status across the U.S. Several modest follow-up singles led to an apparent withdrawal from the scene until a 1987 return produced another Top Ten entry, the duet “Can’t We Try” with Vonda Sheppard. Since that resurgence Hill has registered occasional entries on Billboard’s adult contemporary chart.
