Biography
Daníel Ágúst gained initial prominence serving as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter for the Icelandic electronica group Gus Gus, a collective that scored multiple chart successes domestically while securing modest global attention through a pair of late-1990s releases. Following his departure from the band, Ágúst contributed scores to various films and documentaries in addition to composing pieces for dance ensembles. His return to mainstream pop came via the 2006 solo album Swallowed a Star, which retained certain electronic production elements yet shifted emphasis to singer/songwriter styles and incorporated strings like violin and cello within orchestral settings.
