Biography
Dave Loggins entered the world on November 10, 1947, in Mountain City, Tennessee, earning his chief recognition from the soft rock single "Please Come to Boston," which appeared in 1974. As second cousin to Kenny Loggins, he issued his first album, Personal Belongings, through Vanguard in 1972. Breakthrough arrived with the 1974 follow-up Apprentice (In a Musical Workshop), released on Epic and containing that same track. The set climbed to number 53 on the Billboard Top Albums chart while the single reached the Top Ten and topped the easy listening survey, though it remained his sole mainstream success. Later efforts Country Suite (1976), One Way Ticket to Paradise (1977), and David Loggins (1979) stirred little commercial response, yet Loggins established himself as a skilled songwriter, supplying material to Tanya Tucker, Wynonna Judd, Alabama, Toby Keith, Don Williams, and Restless Heart and delivering number-one singles "Morning Desire" for Kenny Rogers and "You Make Me Want to Make You Mine" for Juice Newton. He passed away on July 11, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 76.
