Biography
Born into a musical family in Winter Haven, Florida, David Davidson, now working as a Nashville session violinist, began piano lessons at five and started studying violin at nine. A scholarship brought him to Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he prepared for a career that turned professional at nineteen, initially in classical settings. He spent four years as concertmaster of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra before shifting focus in 1983 to non-classical recording sessions in Nashville, where he contributed to projects by major artists spanning country, pop, rock, and Contemporary Christian Music. As a member of the A Strings he appeared on the Warner Bros. Records album Home for Christmas, and in 1992 he assembled David Davidson & the Praise Ensemble to record the instrumental Christian project Praise Ensemble, followed by Psalms of Everlasting Hope. In the mid-’90s he signed with the Green Hill label and issued a sequence of instrumental albums that included Silver Screen Classics, Prelude to Joy, Phantom of Broadway, Heartstrings, a duet collection with pianist Russell Davis, and Celtic Fantasy in 2000.
