David Pomeranz, active as a singer and songwriter across the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and subsequent decades, supplied Barry Manilow with the hit singles "Tryin' to Get the Feeling Again" and "The Old Songs" while also issuing his own recordings. His output extends broadly into film, theater, and television scores, and a portion of his composition "Greyhound Mary" surfaced on the 2001 Miss E... So Addictive album by hip-hop artist Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott.

Raised on Long Island, NY, Pomeranz drew early creative fuel from Broadway and rock & roll, making his initial appearances before sizable audiences through synagogue duets alongside his father. During childhood he adopted piano, guitar, and drums; as a teenager he began crafting original material. Still underage, he served as lead vocalist for East Orange Express, a group whose personnel later assembled the soft country-rock band Pure Prairie League. At nineteen he secured a deal with MCA/Decca Records and issued the albums New Blues and Time To Fly, the second featuring jazz pianist Chick Corea. He further supported tours by Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, and Three Dog Night. Additional releases arrived in the late 1970s and early 1980s with It's in Every One of Us and The Truth of Us, followed in the late 1980s by a collaboration with Russian rock performer Alexander Malinin.

Throughout the 1990s Pomeranz sustained both live performances and writing for screen, stage, and broadcast projects. The 1999 album Born for You, issued across Southeast Asia, achieved unprecedented commercial results in the Philippines and remains that nation's all-time top seller. Beyond the Manilow successes, his catalog has been interpreted by Bette Midler, Kenny Rogers, Kenny Loggins, Richie Sambora, the Hollies, Lou Rawls, John Denver, Donna Summer, Glen Campbell, Kathie Lee Gifford, and U.K. vocalist Cliff Richard, among many others.
