Biography
Boris Skalsky records his solo output as a singer and songwriter under the project name Dead Heart Bloom. In the opening years of the 2000s he had served as vocalist, bassist, and keyboardist for the Washington, D.C.-based outfit Phaser. Once that band dissolved, Skalsky withdrew for half a year to compose and track an album with assistance from drummers Gregory Hudson and Simon Ley, former Phaser guitarist Paul Wood, and the Sunrise Quartet. The self-titled Dead Heart Bloom collection contains twelve original tracks plus a version of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” and appeared on KEI Records on March 21, 2006.
