Born in England during 1965, reggae performer Deborahe Glasgow began her association with the renowned producer Mad Professor at the age of twelve. Recording initially as Debbie G., she placed her first single, "Falling in Love," on his Ariwa label. Although that association ended, she steadily gained recognition throughout the London reggae community by performing on the local sound-system circuit alongside emerging talents such as Tippa Irie and Papa Levi. An introduction to producer Patrick Donegan secured her a contract with UK Bubblers, a Greensleeves subsidiary, resulting in the reggae hits "You're My Sugar," "Knight in Shining Armour," "Don't Stay Away," and "When Somebody Loves You Back." In 1989 she issued her only album, Deborahe Glasgow, which included a guest spot by Shabba Ranks and yielded the singles "Champion Lover" and "Don't Test Me." Ranks later achieved global success with his version of "Champion Lover," retitled "Mr. Lover Man." Despite evident ability and considerable potential, Glasgow chose to raise her family in London rather than continue full-time recording, although she did record briefly with producer General Lee. Early in the 1990s she received a diagnosis of lymph-gland cancer; on January 25, 1994, she succumbed to a brain hemorrhage. A ten-track anthology titled The Legend appeared in 1999.
