Born in Columbia, SC, Dijon entered the music scene at fourteen with the emotionally charged single "A Kid's Point of View." Gospel selections favored by his parents had been his soundtrack since the age of three, and family exposure turned Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams into early preferences, while he independently encountered Brandy, Chris Brown, Usher, and Reba McEntire. At that stage he paid no attention to stylistic boundaries, treating all music as interchangeable, which allowed him to merge Franklin’s approach with Usher’s in a seamless manner. That same blend, paired with a commanding stage presence, earned the nine-year-old a standing ovation during a South Carolina talent show scouted by Will Boyles. Boyles placed Dijon under contract with Kollosul Entertainment, whose team refined his skills and secured a recording agreement with Verity Records, an imprint within the Jive label group. The 2007 release of "A Kid's Point of View" marked his introduction, a track that examined divorce through a child’s perspective; Dijon contributed lyrics drawn from his parents’ separation, forging an immediate bond with audiences. The song supplied the title for his debut full-length project, an album evenly split between R&B and gospel that surfaced the same year.
