Dip Doundou Guiss emerged in the late 2010s as Senegal’s leading rapper, his Senegalese style marked by a singular flow that blended exacting precision, raw grit, and brooding sensuality. The 2016 release Tay Leu Kagn and the 2019 album Loo Ñeme Ñàkk, together with joint work alongside Lefa and Locko, cemented his status as the nation’s most prominent rapper.

Dominique Preira drew early motivation from Senegalese pioneers Daara J and Positive Black Soul, shaping a personal rhythmic freestyle approach that led him, in 2011, to form the duo Doundou Guiss alongside Swazi. When that collaboration ended quickly, he continued alone under the Dip Doundou Guiss moniker and joined the Dakar-based Rep'Tyle Music roster. After early tracks such as “Hors Norme” and “Yakarouma Ci Ken” gained traction, his 2016 debut album Tay Leu Kagn arrived, carrying featured appearances by CeePee, Titi, and Marema. Additional stand-alone singles followed across the subsequent two years, culminating in the 2019 full-length Loo Ñeme Ñàkk—frequently abbreviated as LNN—which generated widespread anticipation. In 2020 he released the single “ànd xeex coronavirus.”
