Biography
Swedish trio Dirty Loops fuses its command of jazz fusion with a singular pop vision shaped by funk, R&B, and electronic dance music. The band first surfaced on the 2014 album Loopified before unveiling a broader palette on Phoenix in 2020.
Dirty Loops originated in 2008 when childhood friends Jonah Nilsson (vocals, keyboards) and Henrik Linder (bass guitar) joined forces with drummer Aaron Mellergårdh, whom they had met during their teenage years. After finishing their music degrees, the three musicians spent time as session players until deciding to channel their genre-blending pop ideas through Dirty Loops. Early cover recordings posted online attracted the interest of manager Andreas Carlsson, who assisted the group in cultivating an audience and landing a deal with producer David Foster and Verve. Their debut full-length, Loopified, arrived in 2014 and contained the song “Hit Me.” Subsequent tours alongside Maroon 5 preceded the 2020 release of their second album, Phoenix.
