Emerging from Spain during the 1980s, the experimental industrial and minimal wave outfit Diseño Corbusier relied on rudimentary drum machines and keyboards while deploying cut-up vocals in the style of Burroughs. Their Dadaist work occupied territory between the earliest and most unconventional recordings of Esplendor Geométrico and Cabaret Voltaire. Javier García Marín and Rafael Flores established the project in Granada in late 1981, soon welcoming Ani Zinc (also known as Neo Zelanda) into the lineup. After Flores departed, Zinc and Marín founded the Auxilio De Cientos label, which helped their output gain traction in underground circles. Following the 1983 cassette Stadia, tracks appeared on multiple compilations shared with Muslimgauze and Maurizio Bianchi. The pair issued two vinyl LPs, Pérfido Encanto in 1985 and El Alma de la Estrella in 1986, before disbanding. Vinilisssimo reissued both albums in 2012, and Dark Entries brought Stadia to vinyl in 2016.
