Known as the Evil Genius, DJ Green Lantern achieved sudden fame through his partnership with Eminem, whose goal was to establish Shady Records in the mixtape arena. Their first project together, Shady Invasion, centered on the Detroit rapper’s active dispute with Benzino while spotlighting additional tracks such as Green Lantern’s remix of the Nas/2Pac collaboration “Thugz Mansion.” Eminem next recruited the DJ to create the battle-oriented follow-up Invasion Pt. II: Conspiracy Theory, a mixtape that underscored Shady’s continuing clash with Murder Inc. and included the widely circulated “Hail Mary” freestyle by Em, 50 Cent, and Busta Rhymes as well as the “P.I.M.P.” remix featuring 50 and Snoop.
