Adam Drucker, known as Doseone, emerged from his birthplace in Napa, Idaho, as a cofounder of Themselves alongside Jel and a central figure in both Subtle and cLOUDDEAD. Much of his early years unfolded in Philadelphia and New Jersey, where he sharpened his battle-rap skills before relocating to Cincinnati for college. There his attention turned toward poetry and its integration with music. He issued his debut effort, Hemispheres, independently in 1998, and that same year joined Deep Puddle Dynamics—comprising Jel, Slug of Atmosphere, and Sole and Alias of Live Poets—to record the collective’s first album, The Taste of Rain...Why Kneel? In 2000 Themselves delivered their opening full-length, Them, via the Anticon imprint that Doseone had helped establish; two years later the pair followed with The No Music, later expanding the lineup by adding Dax Pierson on keyboards, theremin, Dr. Sample, and background vocals. Beyond his work and tours with Themselves, Doseone has also collaborated with Prefuse 73, Aesop Rock, Buck 65, and additional artists.
