Biography
In early 2002, Doug Martsch of Built to Spill at last carved out space for solo endeavors. Already a revered underground figure within indie circles, the songwriter gave freer rein to his wide-ranging tastes through the fall arrival of Now You Know. Warner Bros. issued the album, which Martsch captured at his own Manhouse Studios in Boise, his hometown, across 1999 and 2000. Critics responded strongly to the fusion of folk, blues, and classic rock, spurring him to develop yet another creative avenue. North American tours ensued and continued into the opening months of 2003.
