Biography
Germany's Dr. Ring Ding and the Senior AllStars ranked among Europe's earliest traditional ska outfits to reach listeners across the United States. Fronted by singer and trombonist Richie Jung, previously a member of El Bosso and the Ping Pongs, the group took shape after Jung adopted the Dr. Ring Ding moniker to honor the Skatalites' song of that title. He then formed the Senior AllStars, featuring bassist Andre Meyer and drummer Thomas Hoppe, and cut the album Dandimite, which appeared stateside in 1997. Ram Di Dance arrived the following year, and the Doctor resurfaced two years later with Diggin' Up Dirt.
