Ska-P, a ska-punk group headquartered in Madrid, Spain, took its name from the Spanish term for escape when the band came together in 1994. The ensemble, which alternates between political themes and humorous ones, issued its debut record, the self-titled Ska-P, that same year. The left-leaning collective went on to produce several successful albums, with Que Corra la Voz marking the peak of that run in 2002. An indefinite break was declared in 2005 to let the members pursue separate musical paths and endeavors, and a final concert held just outside Madrid on September 24 drew more than 10,000 attendees. Activity resumed in 2008, when the reunited lineup delivered its sixth album, Lagrimas y Gozos, in October and followed it with a brief tour.
