Biography
Multi-instrumentalist and composer Nick Page, after establishing the ethno-techno collectives Transglobal Underground and Temple of Sound, assembled the reggae ensemble Dub Colossus with players drawn from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The London native conceived the project during a 2006 journey across Africa. There he connected with singers Tsedenia Gebremarkos and Sintayehu "Mimi" Zenebe plus musicians Samuel Yirga, Feleke Hailu, and Teremage Woretaw. The outfit issued its first recording in 2008 on the Real World imprint, the album A Town Called Addis, which showcased their fusion of Jamaican reggae and traditional African sounds. Addis Through the Looking Glass appeared in 2012, followed later that year by the remix project Dub Me Tender, Vol. 1, released solely on vinyl. An expanded version carrying the title Dub Me Tender, Vols. 1 & 2 reached CD and digital formats in 2013 and included further tracks.
