Biography
Samuel Yirga, a pianist from Addis Ababa, fuses African musical traditions with an adventurous jazz sensibility. After completing his studies, the Ethiopian musician secured a recording contract with Real World Records, the imprint established by Peter Gabriel. In addition to leading his own ensemble on tour, he participates in Dub Colossus, the Ethiopian jazz collective. Yirga issued his first solo piano album, Hagere, in 2011; the following year he delivered Guzo, his second release.
