Eric Essix

Eric Essix, who makes his home in Birmingham, Alabama, launched his career in the early 90s fronting groups devoted to fusion and contemporary jazz. His first recordings, a pair of albums issued by Nova, mixed light pop textures with fusion and modern material. Work that followed on Zebra Records traced a clear move away from the smooth funk heard on 1998’s Small Talk toward a deeper, blues-inflected approach marked by Southern character on the 2000 album Southbound.
