Biography
Experimental musician Jason Webley joined forces with Amanda Palmer from the Dresden Dolls to launch the Evelyn Evelyn endeavor in 2007, centering on the fictional conjoined twin sisters Eva and Lyn Neville whose cabaret-style songs feature tightly interwoven vocal lines. The pair claimed they had “discovered” the Neville sisters through MySpace messages sent by the siblings, described as Parapagus Tripus Dibrachius twins born with three legs, two arms, two hearts, three lungs and a liver. From ages 11 to 19 the sisters performed inside a traveling circus before Webley and Palmer intervened, removing them from that environment and guiding the recording of their first album. Their debut EP, Elephant Elephant, surfaced the same year as a limited pressing of 1,111 copies on Webley’s own 11 Records label. Guests including Tegan and Sara plus Frances Bean Cobain contributed to Evelyn Evelyn’s self-titled full-length album, issued in 2010; that same year Dark Horse Press was slated to release a graphic novel drawn by Cynthia von Buhler that would expand on the sisters’ story.
