Biography
Songwriter Stephin Merritt heads multiple projects, counting the Gothic Archies among them in addition to the Magnetic Fields, the 6ths, and Future Bible Heroes. The group, which labels its style goth rock/bubblegum, put out its first recording, the seven-track EP The New Despair, in 1997 and then, nearly a decade afterward, delivered the full-length Tragic Treasury: Songs from a Series of Unfortunate Events in 2006.
