Biography
Hailing from Washington, Jason Webley, who performs as a singer, songwriter, and accordion player, shaped his singular mix of folk, punk, and gypsy rock sounds through street performances across Seattle during the final years of the 1990s. Known for embracing theatrical gestures, playful stunts, and performance art, he launched an extensive touring schedule in 1998 to promote his first album, Viaje, and kept moving forward from that point. Later projects followed in quick succession: Against the Night in 1999, Counterpoint in 2002, Only Just Beginning in 2004, and Cost of Living in 2008. Also in 2004, he launched his own imprint, Eleven Records, specifically to issue “eleven” collaborative albums alongside fellow musicians including Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls and the Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band.
