Ex Cops

Ex Cops emerged from Brooklyn, New York, as Brian Harding’s creative outlet following his stint in Hymns, taking cues from the delicate textures of early Sarah Records and Flying Nun releases. Harding laid down initial tracks in his bedroom alongside housemate Dan Shapiro, a recent music-school graduate drawn to production work. That early configuration independently issued the lo-fi White Women EP in the middle of 2011. The project later expanded its roster and sonic range by adding guitarist Sam Bair, bassist Leif Huckman, drummer Kai Kennedy, and vocalist Amalie Bruun, who also fronts the stylistically aligned band Minks. In April 2012 the refreshed lineup delivered the single You Are a Lion, I Am a Lamb as the inaugural release on Other Music’s boutique label. At the same time Ex Cops teamed with producer John Siket to complete their debut full-length, True Hallucinations, which surfaced in early 2013. The group followed with its second studio album, Daggers, in 2014.
