Flawed Mangoes serves as the creative outlet for Rochester, New York-based musician and producer Evan Lo, whose electronic works intertwine layered synth textures, hypnotic guitar motifs, and ambient soundscapes. Lo first distributed material digitally in the late 2010s, yet broader recognition arrived in the early 2020s through multiple singles and EPs that incorporated guest vocalists. The project’s debut full-length album, Killswitch Melodies, appeared in 2023 and was succeeded the following year by The Unwavering Hand along with the single “Sunday Scaries.”

During his Rochester upbringing Lo first studied piano before joining local bands on guitar, though he soon shifted focus to crafting electronic productions from home. Early chillwave recordings issued under the Fla.mingo alias circulated primarily via SoundCloud and Bandcamp. In 2020 Lo switched to the Flawed Mangoes name and began placing tracks on major streaming services, where they reached larger audiences. That year’s EP Nothing Good Will Come of This included vocal contributions from Vonn Sell and Handsome; across the subsequent two years Lo issued mostly instrumental pieces that occasionally incorporated his own heavily processed vocals. The fluttering single “Killswitch Lullaby,” released in 2023, marked his strongest success to date, prompting the December arrival of his first album, Killswitch Melodies. Early 2024 brought the mesmerizing track “Swimming,” while further cuts such as “Take Your Aim” featuring Scarlet House and “Leave a Message” with aldn appeared ahead of The Unwavering Hand, after which “Sunday Scaries” emerged.
