Foxy served as the follow-up house band for Henry Stone’s T.K. Disco imprint in Miami once KC & the Sunshine Band had moved on. The group centered on Ish Ledesma handling lead vocals, Arnold Pasiero on bass, Richie Puente, Jr. supplying percussion, Charlie Murchiano at the keyboards, and Joe Galdo behind the drums. While still under contract to T.K., the musicians augmented their earnings through live performances, and it was during one such engagement at a Maryland club that the concept for “Get Off” first took shape. Returning to Miami, they developed the track at T.K.’s own studio and brought in additional female voices for the refrain. The follow-up single “Rrrrrrock” made scant commercial impact, prompting the band to split after issuing three albums across three years—Get Off, Hot Numbers, and Party Boys. Ledesma’s subsequent projects included the band Oxo and its single “Whirly Girl,” followed by a solo album, before he shifted permanently into production work for other acts. Later compilations of Foxy material comprise Get Off: The Best of Foxy (1995) and Get Off: Hot Numbers (1998).
