Frederick Knight

In 1972 Stax issued Frederick Knight’s engaging single “I’ve Been Lonely for So Long,” which climbed to sizable heights on the R&B charts. He also supplied the songwriting and production for Anita Ward’s sweeping 1979 crossover smash “Ring My Bell.” Working in Birmingham, Alabama, Knight laid down his own version of “I’ve Been Lonely for So Long” alongside a seasoned southern soul ensemble, then scored another chart success in 1975 with “I Betcha Didn’t Know That.”
