Biography
English bass legends Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order), Gary "Mani" Mounfield (Stone Roses, Primal Scream), and Andy Rourke (the Smiths) formed Manchester-based alternative rock outfit Freebass in 2004, although the musicians did not begin laying anything down to tape until much later in the decade. Andy Rourke had amicably parted ways with the group and relocated to New York City by the time vocalist Gary Briggs joined the lineup for the release of debut EP Two Worlds Collide. Hacienda Records issued the band’s full-length debut, It’s a Beautiful Life, in 2010, presenting a heady mix of modern rock, dub, and Northern soul.
