Genival Lacerda specializes in a widely embraced style of Northeastern music characterized by lyrics filled with double meanings alongside an exuberant, sensuous, perpetually outgoing and joyful atmosphere. His initial breakthrough came in 1955 with the track "Coco de 56," though it remained regionally confined at the time. Relocating to Rio de Janeiro during 1964, Lacerda dedicated extensive efforts to performing in forrós—establishments dedicated to the presentation and dancing of Northeastern music—as well as diverse other locations, culminating in his debut national success during 1975 with "Severina Xique-Xique." Throughout his career, he has produced more than 64 albums while maintaining performances across the entire nation.
