Biography
Born on January 10, 1952, in Dresden, German singer and songwriter Gerhard Schone spent his childhood in the German Democratic Republic. Long celebrated above all as a performer of music for children, he has committed to record both lullabies and children's folk songs drawn from numerous countries worldwide. He has composed a substantial body of original children's material as well, and the understated, direct language of these pieces frequently highlights shortcomings in harmful social measures. Schone issued his debut recording in 1981 and has sustained an unbroken career since that time, persistently championing children's rights.
