Biography
Born in Graz, Austria, on November 27, 1952, Gert Steinbäcker built his reputation as a singer and songwriter. Prior to pursuing work on his own, he belonged to the trio Austropop with Günter Timischl and Helmut "Schiffkowitz" Röhrling. From the 1990 release Einmal im Leb'n onward, his solo albums have registered on the Austrian singles and album charts. In 2012 the award Goldene Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich, translated as the Golden Badge of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria, was conferred upon him.
