Biography
Mid-1994 marked the formation of Seattle-based alternative rock band Goodness, assembled by ex-Hammerbox vocalist Carrie Akre together with guitarists Danny Newcomb and Garth Reeves, bassist Fiia McGann, and drummer Chris Friel. The group built a thriving fan following throughout the northwest and then put out their independently issued self-titled debut LP in 1995. A deal with Atlantic's Lava imprint followed soon after, leading to their label debut on the Schoolhouse Rock! Rocks compilation and prompting a reissue of the Goodness album. Five Song E.P. came out as a self-release in late 1997 before the band moved to Epic, where Anthem surfaced a year later.
