Biography
In the early 1980s Danny Wilde, handling vocals and guitar, joined drummer Richard Sanford, guitarist and vocalist Philip Solem, and Ian Ainsworth on bass, keyboards, and vocals to launch the power pop and new wave band Great Buildings. The group issued its lone album through Columbia in 1981 and disbanded shortly afterward. Wilde next delivered a solitary solo album on Geffen in 1989, then rejoined Solem the following year to create the Rembrandts. The Rembrandts issued three albums from 1991 to 1995 and registered moderate success via the 1990 single “Just the Way It Is, Baby” as well as “I’ll Be There for You,” the 1995 theme for the television series Friends.
