Greylag

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the band Greylag—whose name references the wild ancestor of today’s farmyard geese—crafts an atmospheric mix of Pacific Northwest folk-rock and energetic indie Americana. Their sound sits in the territory shared by Fleet Foxes, Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Band of Horses, and Led Zeppelin III. The group coalesced around three musicians from different states: Virginia-born Andrew Stonestreet handling lead vocals and acoustic guitar, California-born Daniel Dixon on lead guitar and keyboards, and Texas-born Brady Swan behind the drums. To helm their self-titled first album, the trio brought in producer Phil Ek, known for his work with Modest Mouse and the Shins; Dead Oceans Records released the record in the fall of 2014.
