Guaco

Guaco, Venezuela’s celebrated salsa ensemble, first emerged in the 1960s performing traditional folk repertoire before adopting a tropical direction. Growing participation in the domestic circuit drew an ever-larger following that soon placed the group among the country’s most prominent acts. Fronted by vocalist Gustavo Aguado, the 22-piece outfit later carried its sound past national borders through releases issued in the U.S. and Europe in the late ’90s.
