Hannibal Buress merges a relaxed style with pointed humor as a standup comedian while also serving as an Emmy-nominated writer, a director of hip-hop videos, and a voice performer in video games through his contribution to Grand Theft Auto V. From his base in New York City, he reached a national audience via a 2007 guest spot on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and two years after that a two-year writing role at Saturday Night Live positioned him for an Emmy nomination. His first comedy album, My Name Is Hannibal, came out on the Stand Up! label in 2010, the same year he joined the writing team for 30 Rock, yet he departed after six months because he worried the assignment would push him into long-form television rather than the sketches and standup he preferred. Sketch duties resumed on The Eric Andre Show, while standup meant returning to the road and issuing the 2012 television comedy special and album Animal Furnace, both under Comedy Central. He helmed the video for Chance the Rapper's "NaNa" in 2013, then revisited Comedy Central the next year with the Live from Chicago album and television special.
