Biography
Harolyn Blackwell, a soprano affiliated with the Metropolitan Opera, launched her stage work through a 1980 Broadway revival of West Side Story. Selection as a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions preceded her breakthrough at the company, where she stepped in as a last-minute replacement for a 1994 production of La Fille du Regiment. Since that appearance she has ranked among the leading international touring sopranos. Her first album, Strange Hurt, was succeeded by Blackwell Sings Bernstein, A Simple Song.
