Born in 1969 in Brussels, Belgium, to Portuguese immigrant parents, Helena Noguerra developed an early aptitude for acquiring multiple languages. The multifaceted artist, who has worked as a musician, actress, model, author, and playwright, followed her older half-sister Lio’s path when the latter rose to prominence as a French pop star during adolescence; Helena soon moved to Paris and achieved recognition herself as a teenaged model. Subsequent explorations in film, radio, and television paved the way for her cautious entry into music with the 1989 single “Lunettes Noires.” Nine years afterward she contributed several tracks to Ollano’s first album and initiated her solo recording career via Bikini. Following her signing with Sunnyside Records, she issued the 2001 album Azul, which paired her dusky vocals with bossa nova rhythms. The next year saw publication of her debut novel, L'Ennemi Est á l'Interiéur, after which she sustained her varied output as a French media sensation with Née Dans la Nature in 2004, Bang! Dillinger Girl & Baby Face Nelson in 2005, and the 2007 tribute to Serge Rezvani titled Fraise Vanille.
