Biography
Known on occasion as junior, his connection to Henry Eccles—father of John Eccles—stands beyond question. Serving as both composer and violinist, Henry gave a performance for the Duke d'Aumont that brought him to Paris. Twelve violin sonatas appeared from his hand in 1720, incorporating numerous movements taken from Valentini. Whether Henry had entered the service of the King of France by 1735 remains unclear. A second set of violin sonatas followed from Eccles in 1723 and may have been entirely original.
