Biography
In the United States, numerous funk ensembles continue to thrive, yet Nashville, Tennessee's Here Come the Mummies stands alone as the sole group composed entirely of mummies. The band maintains secrecy around their true identities—maintaining the intended pun—while delivering their funk and R&B performances entirely in bandages and adopting pseudonyms such as Eddie Mummy, Bucking Blanco, and Mummy Cass. Emerging from their shared tombs in 2000, they have produced a remarkable body of work, beginning with the 2002 release Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave and continuing soon after with Everlasting Party in 2003. A return came via the 2008 album Single Entendre, followed by the 2009 live DVD Undead Live. The subsequent year saw the arrival of their fourth full-length Carnal Carnival, which initiated an ongoing series of recordings encompassing Bed, Bath & Behind in 2011, Hits & Mrs. in 2012, and Cryptic in 2013.
