Hollie Kenniff, a Canadian-American musician and vocalist, crafts shoegaze-tinged electronic indie pop as one half of Mint Julep while also recording wistful, ethereal ambient music independently. She launched the duo with her husband Keith Kenniff—recognized for his solo projects Helios and Goldmund—in Boston during 2007, issuing the limited CD-R Songs About Snow the following year. After that atmospheric debut, the pair shifted toward synth pop and alternative dance on Save Your Season, which Village Green released in 2011. The arrival of their son inspired an additional children’s album, The Littlest Star, credited to Meadows. Mint Julep’s third album, the driving synth pop effort Broken Devotion, surfaced in 2016 on Keith’s Unseen Music imprint. Hollie’s solo bow arrived via n5MD in 2019 with the glimmering, glacial full-length The Gathering Dawn, which fused drifting synths and gossamer vocals. Western Vinyl then hosted two of the duo’s hookiest, most accessible releases, Stray Fantasies (2020) and In a Deep & Dreamless Sleep (2021). Signing to the label as a solo artist, Hollie issued The Quiet Drift in 2021, incorporating hazy guitars and neo-classical elements while featuring Goldmund on two tracks. She has since shared further recordings with her husband under his Goldmund or Helios aliases, in addition to the 2022 track “Ways of Seeing” with violinist Anna Phoebe. Her third solo album, We All Have Places That We Miss, appeared in 2023 and sustained the blend of ambient, post-rock, and modern classical textures.
