Hubert Mounier, a French singer and songwriter born in Lyon, launched his musical path by helping establish the art-pop group L'Affaire Louis Trio in 1982. The Lyon outfit brought together his brother Vincent Mounier on guitar and bass under the alias Karl Niagara, François Lebleu handling keyboards and drums as Bronco Junior, and Mounier himself supplying vocals and guitar while using the name Cleet Boris. Their first full-length effort, Chic Planète, appeared in 1987 via Barclay Records; the sessions drew on an extensive roster of session players and yielded the Top 30 singles “Tout Mais Pas Ça” and “Chic Planète,” securing the band a Victoires de la Musique trophy in the Révélation Variétés Masculine de l’Année category.

Further releases followed with Le Retour de l’Âge d’Or in 1988, Sans Légende in 1990, Mobilis in Mobile in 1993, L’Homme aux Milles Vies in 1995, and the self-titled L’Affaire Louis Trio in 1997. The track “Mobilis in Mobile” peaked inside the French Top 20 that same year. After ten years of activity the trio disbanded in 1997, prompting the 1998 compilation Le Meilleur de l’Affaire. Mounier then moved into solo work, issuing Le Grand Huit in 2001, Voyager Léger in 2005, and Affaire Classée in 2008.
