Biography
Drawing influence from the Velvet Underground, particularly its lead vocalist Bob Pfeifer, together with the emotionally charged post-punk of Joy Division, Human Switchboard first appeared in 1977 on an EP produced by Pere Ubu’s David Thomas. Three years later the band issued Human Switchboard Live, a release that carries a bootleg quality, and then delivered its only LP, Who’s Landing in My Hangar? Following the appearance of yet another live set, Coffee Break!, assembled from radio broadcasts, the group quickly disbanded. Five years after the split, Pfeifer—who later obtained an A&R post at Epic Records and subsequently served as president of Hollywood Records—issued one solo album, while keyboard player Myrna Marcarian released an EP under her first name alone.
