Biography
Operating under the name Hurt Valley, Brian Collins—an indie musician rooted in Los Angeles—blends strands of 1960s psych-pop with the reflective textures of folk-rock and the introspective haze of lo-fi. The project’s inaugural full-length, Glacial Pace, appeared in 2019.
The name Hurt Valley originated after Collins visited Death Valley in 2010. On that journey, he and a companion discovered a remote canyon clearing littered with a graveyard of vehicles left burned, defaced, and riddled with bullet holes. Back at his Sugarloaf, California residence, he launched Hurt Valley as a solitary home-recording endeavor, giving it greater focus once he moved to Los Angeles in 2014. After amassing a sufficient body of finished material, he assembled the tracks into an album and placed it with the respected independent imprint Woodsist. Hurt Valley’s debut long-player, Glacial Pace, arrived in late 2019.
