The Swiss duo Hyperculte unites an unusual pair of instruments—a drum kit and double bass—to generate a mesmerizing, verse-infused fusion of post-punk, Krautrock, and minimal disco pulses. Their first recording, a self-titled album, surfaced in 2016, after which the pair kept sharpening and broadening that distinctive approach across subsequent works, including the 2023 release La Pangée.

Hyperculte came together in Geneva during 2014. On drums sits Simone Aubert, guitarist for Massicot and participant in Tout Bleu, while Vincent Bertholet, previously active with electro-punks Robotnicka and later with Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, handles double bass together with looping effects. The two musicians also deliver vocals and spoken poetic passages while layering additional sonic treatments. A demo was captured soon after the group’s inception, leading to the self-titled debut album issued by Bongo Joe in 2016. A limited live cassette followed in 2017, and the second full-length, Massif Occidental, appeared in 2019. In 2020 the duo issued a split 10" single alongside La Jungle. Their most intricate and finely wrought statement yet, La Pangée, arrived in 2023.
